Bhandari's journey into the hospitality industry

Foreign migration is popular among the youths of Nepal. However, there are some who are still adamant about creating a career back home. Arjun Bhandari is among such youths who found a successful career in Nepal.

With an investment of Rs 90 million, he registered Seven Wonders Water Park and Resort Pvt Ltd on January 1, 2016. The resort is situated at Lekhnath Chowk, Pokhara. Speaking about his inspiration, Bhandari said, “Though I am a science student, I was interested in the hospitality field since my childhood.  So, I chose to turn my dream into reality by opening this resort.”

Further elaborating his motive, Bhandari stated, “I had always noticed the lack of adventure swimming pools in Pokhara. So, I decided to provide a proper swimming facility to the visitors.”
Currently, there are three types of swimming pools catering to different age groups and swimmer’s proficiency. The biggest attraction of his resort is the 60ft long pool where one can slide down from a height of 20ft.

The resort is spread along 7.5 ropanies of land. Apart from the swimming pool, the resort also features an ice-cream parlor, lunch bar, restaurant and a conference hall that can hold upto 100 people at one time. As the resort is located near the Prithvi Highway, he has also been seeing a huge influx of local and international tourists.

Speaking about the features of the pool, Bhandari revealed, “We use chlorine to sterilize the water but avoid other harmful chemicals. As our pools are free from hazardous chemicals, our customer does not have to worry about any kind of health problems, including eye irritation, and skin rashes.”
Explaining the origination of the name of his resort, Bhandari said, “Lekhnath is famous for its seven lakes and we aim to make water-sport s fun. My elder sister suggested me this name and we stuck with Seven Wonders Water Park and Resort as our official name.”

Currently, the resort is taking bookings through direct calls or via booking.com and social media. Bhandari is further working on acquainting his clients through the resort’s website. He said that the customers will be able to directly book the services after the launch of the website. He is also looking forward to expanding the business and develops it into a luxury resort.

Suggesting other youths who tend to move abroad in search of better opportunity, Bhandari said, “If you have dedication, passion, and skills, you can easily overcome challenges.  Instead of moving abroad you can implement your ideas in your own native land. Most business sectors in Nepal are yet to be explored.”
