Bhaktapur to be declared first ever Yoga district of Nepal

BHAKTAPUR, Sept 23: Preparations for declaring Bhaktapur district the first ever Yoga district in the country are over, according to Bal Mukunda Suwal, Secretariat member of the Secretariat of the Yoga District Declaration Main Organizing Committee, Bhaktapur. 

As more than 55 per cent of the total populations, aged between 10-70, of this smallest district in the country were recorded to have practiced yoga on a regular basis, the district is going to enjoy the virtue of being the first Yoga district, shared Suwal in a press conference organized here on Thursday. 

According to him, the population with age group 10-70 stands at 250,439 in the district. 

The Main Organizing Committee, Bhaktapur together with nine other organizations had been running various yoga and meditation-oriented program in 26 different places in six municipalities in the district for a year. 

The Organizing Committee, led by the Chief District Officer of Bhakapur Tej Prasad Poudel, was formed six months ago to declare Bhaktapur the first ever Yoga district. RSS
