Bhaktapur case: Preliminary investigation shows Sudeep ‘murdered’ his wife and son

KATHMANDU, Sep 12: Police have suspected that Sudeep Adhikari murdered his wife and son before committing suicide in the Bhaktapur case.

“Preliminary investigation shows that Sudeep murdered his 34-year-old wife Samjhana and 15-year-old son Sushant before consuming poison himself,” said a high-ranking police officer involved in the investigation.

On Friday, the dead bodies of Sudeep Adhikari, 36, his wife Samjhana and son Sushant were found inside their house at Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-6 in Bhaktapur district.

“Preliminary investigation shows that Sudeep committed the murders with the help of a sharp domestic weapon. Later, he committed suicide by consuming poison. He also fed his dog poisonous food,” said the officer, adding that three dead bodies were found in different rooms.

The dead body of their pet dog was lying on the staircase.

According to Superintendent of Police, Ishwar Karki, the dead bodies have been sent to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for autopsy. “The forensic and autopsy reports will be out by tomorrow,” said Karki, who is the spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Crime Division.

Further investigation into the case is underway, he added.
