KATHMANDU, April 29: ‘Between the Mountain and the Sky’, a book by American philanthropist and social activist Maggie Doyne has been launched in Nepal. Blinknow Foundation organized a book launch event at Hotel Himalaya on April 29, and launched the south Asian edition of ‘Between the Mountain and the Sky’. This book is a mother’s story of love, loss, healing and hope.
Maggie Doyne is the co-founder of the BlinkNow Foundation and Kopila Valley Children’s Home and School in Surkhet, Nepal. At the age of 19, she used her babysitting money and worked with the local community to build a home for orphaned children. In 2010, she and her team opened a school for five hundred of the region’s most impoverished children.
In conversation with popular Nepali blogger Lex Limbu, author Doyne highlighted the importance of self-reflection and awareness of one’s own journey and using one’s own privileges to empower others.
Doyne's work has had a transformative impact on the lives of many children and families in Nepal. She has received numerous awards for her philanthropic work, including the CNN Hero of the Year award in 2015.
