MYAGDI, Aug 20: The Beni-Darbang road has been blocked due to a landslide triggered by heavy rain. The road section was blocked when a landslide occurred in Faparkhet, the border of Beni Municipality-4 and Mangala Rural Municipality-2, Myagdi.
The road, which is known as the 'lifeline' of West Myagdi, remained blocked even during the normal rain in Faparkhet. Kumar KC, a businessman of Singa Tatopani, said that ongoing rainfall is causing landslides, which has led to problems in reopening the blocked road and vehicular movement.

Following the blockage of the road, passengers and students traveling from Simalchaur, Sim and other places for study in Tatopani are facing significant problems. Path Bahadur Roka, Ward President of Malika-6, said that the road connecting Dhawalagiri, Malika and Mangala Rural Municipality to the district headquarters, Beni Bazar, is becoming more dangerous during the monsoon.
For over a decade, despite spending millions and repeatedly repairing it in every monsoon season, the landslide problem on this road of Faparkhet has been worsening. Travelers said that the preliminary studies for alternative routes and the construction of a suspension bridge over the Magdi River have been limited, which has led to difficulties for passengers traveling from the three local levels in west Magdi to the district headquarters in Beni.
