What you expect, what you do to meet that expectation and what results you get, these are the most important factors in life that help you to evaluate whether you are successful or not.

I started writing poems when I was in grade four, although my creations only looked like paragraphs of random thoughts than a poem at that time. I was surrounded by mistakes. Getting one of my articles published in a magazine gave birth to my writing skills.

When I was in grade seven, I participated in the ‘Nepali Poem Writing Competition’ organized by the Nepali Army Wives Association. And so, my journey to Nepali literature began in 2011. I was 13 years old at that time. The competition became a milestone in my life. I started giving speeches in English and writing English essays.

Art is not only about creating, so I also started reading different books. As I recall those days, I remember telling my parents that I wanted to publish a book. I claimed that I was prepared to become a published author. But my parents wouldn’t trust me for I was a kid. Then, I decided to meet my Nepali teacher. He looked me in shock at first, but I handed him my collection. He only believed me once he went through my creations. That was the beginning of my journey as a writer.

When I was 14 years old, my first ‘Baal Kabita Sangraha’ (collection of children’s poems) came into the market. It was the best day of my life. This added to my confidence and boosted my ability to take part in several other competitions. A year later in 2014, as I was preparing for my Send Up examinations, my mother got a phone call saying that I had received the ‘Nai Derunikhapu Baal Sahitya Puraskar’. The news was all over the media. This is when a 15-year-old me became a celebrity overnight.

The award motivated me to write more. The lifelong experience that I gained from Satyamohan Joshi, Baanira Giri and the valuable knowledge from Narendra Raj Prasai as well as Indira Prasai fostered my talent.

I decided to take part in ‘Nepal’s Top7 Young Poets 2015’, and bagged the second position. I again won the same title in the competition a year later. I am 17 years old now, and these three awards motivate me to wake up every morning and work in the field of literature.

I am thankful to Sainik Mahavidyalaya who supported me by allowing me to take part in different national level competitions. Furthermore, I am thankful to Saipal Academy where I am pursuing my high school studies. I am also thankful to all those who trusted me and my work. My hard work and success has made be confident that life belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
