Banke National Park all set to bring in more tourists

Nepalgunj, Jan 4: The Banke National Park (BNP) is all set to bring in more number of tourists. It had witnessed the visit of 150 tourists from the country and abroad combined in the last fiscal year. Among these, only eight were the foreign tourists.

BNP Chief Pramod Bhattarai informed that they were planning how they could attract more number of tourists in view of the Visit Nepal Year 2020. For this, he said, the BNP initiated talks with people's representatives, hotel entrepreneurs, journalists, industrialists and other stakeholders.

BNP is located 20 kilometres away from the East-West Highway in Banke district. It is known for Royal Bengal Tiger. The BNP is also rich in natural beauty with diverse wild life. The indigenous communities around the BNP have been running homestay.

Banke National Park, which was announced only eight years back, is home to 21 Royal Bengal Tigers, Bhattarai added. He hoped that the increase in tiger's population, would help attract more tourists. Owner of Gabhar Valley Community Homestay, Krishna Chaudhary informed that the Chure hill range has further beatified the BNP. Even the hiking could be arranged in the Chure area.

Similarly, Nepalgunj sub-metropolis has planned to develop Kanti Lake as a tourist destination in view of the VNY 2020. The renovation around the Kanti Lake was undergoing with the internal source of the sub-metropolis, said Mayor Dr Dhawal Shumsher Rana.
