KATHMANDU, March 14: The government has enforced a policy banning public vehicles crossing 20 years of operation throughout the country from today.
The public vehicles that are over 20 years would be seized and put in auction if found operated from March 15 onwards, said the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.
Ministry Spokesperson Rajendra Raj Sharma informed the RSS that the vehicles spanning over 20 years would be seized if they were found plying from March 15 (Thursday).
He shared that a directive was given to the police administration to seize 20-year-old vehicles and initiate legal action.
The decision was taken to remove 20-year-old vehicles to curb growing air pollution and road accidents.
However, the umbrella organization of transport entrepreneurs, National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs said that it would not be proper to issue directives to the public service asserting that the 20-year-old vehicles would not be prevented from operation.
