Co-host, Nepal Siterio Karate Do Association, Mahankal, came second with three gold, six silver and five bronze medals while Badokai stood third with three gold, six silver and four bronze medals. Host HIMS stood fourth with three gold, five silver and 13 bronze medals. [break]
Avinash Chaudhary of Mahankal and Anupama Magar of Balaju were declared the best male and female players, respecitively. Similarly, Amish Karki and Bipana Tamang, both of Balaju were adjudged the emerging players.
In the final day of the two-day long event, female players Nima Tamang of Sarlahi clinched a gold in 25 kg category, Albina Balami in 30 kg, Kopila Budathoki in 35 kg, Bipana Tamang of Balauju in 40 kg and Alisha BK of Wadokai in 45 kg category.
Similarly, Anu Gurung of Balaju, Dianna Ojha of Balaju and Jyoti Gurun of Wadokai became the winners in 50 kg, 55 kg, 60 kg categories, respectively. Kripa Gurung of Balaju secured the top honor in women single kata.
The male players to secure gold were Manish Thapa in men´s 35 kg, Rabi Tamang of Badokai in 40 kg, Anuj Rai of Balaju in 45 kg, Gautam Rai of Balaju in 50 kg, and Dawa Tamang of HIMS in 55 kg.
Roman Tamang of Balaju in 60 kg, Avinash Chauhdary of host in 65 kg, Sanjay Kumar Rai of Balaju in 70 kg and Binod Bahadur Shahi of same team in above 70 kg emerged champions in their weight categories. Dilip Chamling of Siterio took home men´s singles kata.
HIMS Principal RC Khanal, Karate coach Mahesh Kumar Shrestha, HIMS advisor Buddha Bir Lama among other distributed the prizes. Altogether 261 players competed in the event for 24 gold medals.
