Bal Srijanalaya, Shree Durga win Coca-Cola Cup titles

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Bal Srijanalaya School of Kathmandu and Shree Durga Secondary School of Rautahat have claimed the boys’ and girls’ tittles, respectively, of the Coca-Cola Cup Inter-School National Football Tournament on Thursday. 

In the boys’ final played at ANFA Complex in Lalitpur, Bal Srijanalaya earned hard fought 1-0 win over Everest Secondary Academy of Sarlahi. Similarly, Shree Durga thrashed Bhumre Secondary School of Syangja 7-0 to lift the girls’ title.

The champions earned the purses of Rs 300,000 each, while the runner-ups were given Rs 100,000 each.

Pratik Ale’s strike in the 72nd minute was enough for Bal Srijanalaya to become the champion in the boys’ section.

In the girls’ summit clash, Nikita Thokar scored four goals for Shree Durga while Rashmi Kumari Ghising netted two. Likewise, Dilkumari Rana Magar added another goal for the winning side. 

Shree Durga took the lead in the 19th minute with Magar’s strike while Thokar doubled the tally in the 30th minute. Ghising raised the score to 3-0 in the 35th minute, and Thokar scored her personal second and third goals of the match in the 38th and 47th minutes. Ghising netted her personal second goal in the 52nd minute, while Thokar struck her fourth goal of the match in the 55th minute and ensured her team’s big margin 7-0 win. 

Similarly, Setidevi Sarda Secondary School of Sindhupalchowk grabbed the third position in girls’ section defeating Kailali’s Shree Shankar Saraswoti School 3-2 on penalties in play-off match. 
The third place in boys’ section was grabbed by Gajurmukhi English Boarding School of Kathmandu who beat Mahendra Memorial English Boarding School of Sunsari 5-4 on penalties last week. 

The teams securing the third places in boys’ and girls’ sections got Rs 50,000 each.  
Bal Srijanalaya dominated individual prizes of the boys’ section with its players Suresh Lama and Anjil Lama bagging the best goalkeeper and best midfielder awards, respectively. Amar Sherpa of the same team was rewarded with the best coach award. Awards for best defender and best forward went to Akash Shrestha of Everest Secondary Academy of Sarlahi and Angel Bhandari of Bhanubhakta Memorial Boarding School of Morang, respectively. 

Similarly, Shree Durga’s Noor Raj Kafle was declared the best coach in the girls’ section, while Nikita Thokar of the same team got the best forward award. Likewise, Bhumre’s Sabitri Kishan was declared the best goalkeeper, whereas Shree Shankar Saraswoti Annapurna School’s Surakshya Singh got the best defender award. Priti Rai of Setidevi Sarda was announced the best midfielder. 
All the best players under each category and the coaches were rewarded with Rs 5,000 each. 

Scholars Home English Baording School (Rupandehi) in boys’ section and Shree Shankar Saraswoti Annapurna in girls’ section were given fair play awards. Both schools got Rs 5,000 each.
