Bahrain prince visits Samagaun in Gorkha before heading to Manasalu Base Camp

GORKHA, Oct 8: The prince of Bahrain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa along with his team of 20 other members visited Samagaun of Gorkha district.

GORKHA, Oct 8: The prince of Bahrain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa along with his 20 expedition team members visited Samagaun of Gorkha district. 


The team arrived at Samagaun of Chumanubri Rural Municipality-1, which lies north of Gorkha, in a helicopter on Tuesday morning. Ward Chair Bir Bahadur Lama said the locals welcomed the team in traditional attire and with cultural presentation.

A travel agency named Seven Summit Treks Pvt Ltd is managing the expedition team for its ascent to the mountains. The team of 21 people attempting to scale two mountains consists of the prince of Bahrain, security team and guides from Nepal and Holland. 


The team on Wednesday headed to the base camp to scale Mt Manaslu (8130 meter). The team is scheduled to attempt climbing Mt Manaslu from October 15 to October 20.


A team of 75 people has already reached Manaslu base camp a week ago to prepare for the ascent. The expedition team of the prince will be guided by an international mountaineering guide from Holland. 


The team had successfully scaled Mt Lobuche (6,119 meter) on Saturday. It was the first ascent of 2020 in Nepal as all mountaineering activities were suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic.
