Madhav Nepal is not on right path: Bagmati CM Shakya
Although she was close to the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction in the UML, Shakya had chosen to stay with the UML in the end. Shakya informed Republica that she had tendered her resignation from the post as per Article 169 (1) of the constitution.
Leaders said she chose to step down after it was certain that she was not going to secure the requisite majority votes in the Provincial Assembly. "In my capacity as the chief minister, I have paved the way. The UML felt that this is the right way forward to create an environment of cooperation in the days ahead," she said.
Shakya had fallen in minority right from the day she was appointed as the chief minister. She claimed that she had effectively run the government despite running a minority government.
