Bad weather affects flights

KATHMANDU, March 30: Bad weather affected many domestic and international flights on Monday.

According to officials of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), flights to Solukhumbu, Lamidanda and other hilly regions could not take off from Tribhuvan International Airport due to low visibility on Monday.

Similarly, some international flights coming to TIA were diverted due to poor visibility.

Officials said 11 international flights were diverted to New Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata of India. Turkish Airlines aircraft coming to Kathmandu from Istanbul returned to Turkey, while an Air Arabia flight was diverted to Kolkata.

Similarly, Air India flight coming to Kathmandu had to be diverted to Varanasi, according to TIA officials.
