NEPALGUNJ, Sept 3: A baby girl, who was born on Friday, was about to be buried alive after her parents assumed she was already dead.
The newborn baby could remain alive as she suddenly cried while a group of people prepared to dig a pit to bury her. Bhawana Oli, 19, of Rugha-2 Rukum had given birth to the girl Thursday afternoon.
A worthwhile experience!
She and her husband, Gopal Khadka, 27, took the baby to a local pharmacy after the child became seriously sick.
"Those at the pharmacy told the couple that the baby looked like she is no more and suggested to the parents to take the baby to Bheri Zonal Hospital to ascertain her condition," said police Inspector Ram Bahadur Chand. "But the couple concluded without going to the hospital that the child was dead."
They took the baby to a graveyard at Bulbuliya, Nepalgunj-17 to bury her, said Dev Bahadur Bohara, who was among the youths who volunteered to help the couple bury the child.
"Some had already started digging the pit. I was searching a spade," said Bohara.
"But the baby suddenly produced a sound. Then we called the police and handed them to the police."
