Simple ways to style your hair and put some oomph in it

Most of us love accessories and jewelry in general. We wear everything from bangles, bracelets and rings to necklaces, earrings and anklets. But we are not so experimental when it comes to hair accessories or jewelries. A lot of people don’t even know the availability of hair accessories other than hair bands, rubber bands, and claw ut there are a number of different hair accessories that can take your look from 0 to 10 real quick. Most of these are also very versatile and can work for casual as well as formal settings. Here is a list of some of the most common hair accessories and a short guide on how you can use them to style your hair better.

Headbands and hair scarves
Headbands and hair scarves might be the most versatile and quick to wear hair accessories on this list. These can be found in a variety of styles, colors, and patterns. You can create a number of looks with this accessory – most of which fall on the casual end of the spectrum. You can simply wear a headband on its own and head out the door looking ready to seize the day with a messily stylish hair or you can add it to an updo at the last minute. Think your high ponytail, messy bun or three-plait braid is too simple? Just add either a colorful or a patterned scarf or headband and that will add the much- required jazz to your look.

Rings and braid charms
Adding rings and hoops to your hair might come across as a little intimidating but if this is done right, then you will not believe how cool these austere items can make you look. Hair rings, hoops and charms are a little hard to find in the market but you can also use (hooped) nose rings, small earrings and bracelet charms as substitutes for them. Just hook them onto thin strands of hair or clip them onto your braids. Make sure they are securely placed though because they can easily slide or fall off. Although rings and braid charms can be worn with hairstyles other than braids (if they are styled properly), they are more commonly seen on braided or coiled hair.

Clip-ons
Most people associate clip-ons with children but it does not have to be that way. Clip-ons are available in a large array of designs catered to suit different styles individuals have. If you don’t like the bright, colorful and cute designs of clip-ons that are worn by children, you can opt for sleeker looking ones. Now a days, you can also find clip-ons made out of gold and silver some of which are also adorned with stones. You can wear these types of clip-ons to formal events or on occasions when you have to look more dressed up. For the more experimental individuals out there, look for quirky designs and colors. While wearing clip-ons, have the option to keep your look basic by just applying one or two clip-ons or you can go all out wearing as many as a dozen clip-ons – just make sure their styles don’t contrast each other too harshly.

Hair comb and ponytail cuff
If we are to be honest, both of these items are not very versatile and can only be used for that one specific look they were actually made for. But they still make the wearer look super stylish so we thought they were worth including in this list. In case you run out of hair ties or rubber bands to put up your hair in a ponytail, use the ponytail cuff. It gives you an edgy but sleek look and makes sure that your hairstyle does not mess up throughout the entire day. Hair combs fall more on the luxurious side of hair accessories. Although they are traditionally just used in weddings, in modern days, you can see people wearing them on other occasions too. They are very easy to slide into your hair and make the wearer look sophisticated instantly.

Headpiece and head chain
If you are on the lookout for bohemian inspired hair accessories then headpieces and head chains are the perfect hair accessories for you. They are light, extravagant and elegant. Although it can take you quite some time to figure out the right way to put on a head piece (we can’t help you there because each head piece has its own unique style and way to wear), once you do find that out, this will be your go-to accessory for parties or even casual outings. Head chains are leagues simpler to use when compared to headpieces. You just have to hook the two ends onto the desired area of your scalp and leave it hanging. Both headpieces and head chain can be worn with casual and formal attires.
