CHITWAN, Aug 24: The post-mortem of bodies recovered from the fatal bus accident that took place on Friday in Tanahu is being held in Bharatpur Hospital, Chitwan. 


The accident took place as a tourist bus with visitors from India fell into the Marsyangdi River in Aaina Pahara, Anbu Khaireni Rural Municipality-2 of Tanahun under the Prithvi Highway.

A total of 27 people were killed when the bus with Indian registration number plate (UP 53 FT 7623), on its way from Pokhara to Kathmandu, fell into the Marsyangdi river. 


Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Rai said that the bodies of 26 people who died in the accident were sent from the Anbu Khaireni Hospital to Chitwan for a post-mortem.


Meanwhile, 16 people injured in the accident were airlifted to Kathmandu for further medical treatment. They are undergoing treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu. All the deceased and injured are from Jalgaon district of Maharashtra State of India, police said.
