A study, though failed to assess the comparative virulence and lethality of the virus from India, has shown that the majority of the virus sequence recorded in Nepal are similar to those recorded in India. KATHMANDU, Nov 26: Although it has been said that the COVID-19 vaccine will be made available for 3 percent of the population in Nepal, it has not been specified who will be among them. The World Health Organization (WHO) is preparing to provide vaccines to 3 percent of the population in the first phase. Following which, the plan is to vaccinate 20 percent of the population by adding 17 percent in the second phase. COVAX plans to purchase and supply 2 billion doses of the vaccine to participating nations by the end of 2021.

KATHMANDU, July 5: A 31-years-old man from Rolpa committed suicide during his home quarantine on Wednesday. A native of Ramdev Rural municipality-5, Avan Sarki, had returned home from Dubai on June 24 and was at home quarantine, alone at a home of his relative as India returned workers refused to allow him to stay with them at a quarantine center run by the local government. KATHMANDU, June 17: COVID-19 has increased food insecurity by 8 percentage points, a national survey showed. A household-level survey conducted in April has shown that 23 percent of the households had inadequate food consumption, which is higher by 8 percentage points than the Annual Household Survey-(2016/17), which states that 15 percent of households in Nepal consume inadequate diet.
