DAMAK, April 1: Even though nine months have elapsed since the elected representatives of people took charge of the local bodies, the service seekers are not getting service as expected due to the internal row amongst the elected representatives from different political parties.

DAMAK, Feb 10: On Friday, the workstation of Dipendra Thapa, vice-chairperson of Gauriganj Rural Municipality, was jam-packed with people. While some were raising grievances and making accusations, others were found refuting the accusations. Thapa on the other hand was trying his best to address the complaints and settle the issues. His workstation seemed more like a mini-court.

DAMAK, Feb 4: Development works of different types worth about Rs 350 billion have kick-started in Jhapa, the home district of CPN-UML chair and would-be prime minister KP Sharma Oli. The projects, termed ‘dream projects’ by Oli during his premiership two years ago, were of a total worth of Rs 500 billion. Apparently aimed at wooing the voters, these projects have been considered to have supported his election campaign significantly.

JHAPA, Feb 3: Anil Jogi is an eighth grader. He goes to school only during winter. It's not because he dislikes school but because he cannot manage to attend classes except in the dry season.  “The way to school is difficult. We cannot get through the route any other time except winter. We cannot cross the rivers,” he said.

JHAPA, Jan 24: Bishnu Chhetri, 82, left Bhutan 26 years ago has been living in the refugee camp in Jhapa. Still to these days, memories of his home constantly take him back there. When he opens his eyes in the morning, he hopes he would be in Bhutan.
