ROLPA, July 22: Twelve kilometers east of the Rolpa headquarters, Liwang, a newly-built Rock Garden has started attracting visitors. Located 3,200 m above sea level, the garden has been built as a tourist spot on Satdobato hill by Rolpa Municipality in coordination with the Division Forest Office.
ROLPA, July 3: Four years ago, assuring the locals of the confidentiality and secrecy of the details, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP) collected complaints from the families of those killed and disappeared in the conflict era. ROLPA, June 29: A visually-impaired student, Lokesh Dangi of Balkalyan Secondary School at Liwang, Rolpa, has topped the SEE (Secondary Education Examination) in the district. With a GPA of 3.55, Dangi has scored the highest from the community schools running in the district. Along with Dangi, his elder brother Shishir Dangi has also scored a GPA of 3.5.
ROLPA, June 27: The Rolpa District Hospital, which is supposed to provide medical care to 200,000 residents of the district, has only 15 beds. District residents are aware of this shortcoming and have been demanding for improving the quality of service it provides by expanding its capacity and adding human resources for a long time now.

ROLPA, June 7: Thirty-two years old Nirmala BK, a former Maoist combatant also known as 'Sadhana', hailing from Tribeni Rural Municipality-5 of Rolpa, who has been suffering from mental health problems for years, has finally received medical treatment.
ROLPA, June 4: A teacher of Bhanu Basic School of Runtigadhi Rural Municipality-8 of Rolpa has been arrested on Monday afternoon on the charge of severely beating up schoolchildren and fracturing the forearms of five of them. A total of 14 students were injured in the beating by teacher Laxmi Pun, who had punished the students on May 26 for being late to the morning assembly.
ROLPA, May 12: Even though the number of child marriages is extensively high in Rolpa, very few cases of this ill-practice are reported to police. The government has criminalized child marriage, yet those practicing and encouraging child marriage are neither punished nor ostracized by the law enforcing agencies.
ROLPA, May 8: Even though the government has pledged free education up to the secondary level as child's fundamental right in the constitution, it does not provide financial resources to all community schools to pay teachers' salary and other resources a school needs.
ROLPA, May 4: In the last one decade, road networks across the country have remarkably expanded including in the high hills of Rolpa. Poor engineering or haphazard opening of tracks has been blamed for environmental hazards as well. Amid this, a local unit here in eastern Rolpa has decided to shift its focus from roads to education.
