BAGLUNG, Oct 31: The political equation of Nepal took a different course when CPN-UML joined hands with CPN (Maoist Center) to form the leftist alliance and agreed to party unification in the near future. The communist forces in the country grew in strength with that decision, and probably for the first time wielded enough power to challenge democratic forces in areas dominated by Nepali Congress (NC), which has historically remained the largest party of Nepal so far.
While the exodus of Nepali youths to foreign countries in search of employment and better opportunities continues unabashedly, some youngsters have decided to stay within the borders and do something for the nation.
BAGLUNG, Sept 27: Dashain fervor has gripped Hindus across the country but the landslide victims of Nishikhola are untouched by it. While people in other villages are busy preparing for the auspicious festival, the displaced locals of Nishikhola are unable to return to their homes.
BAGLUNG, Sept 25: Local trade has not flourished in the district this year even in the Dashain festival. Although trade usually flourishes during the festival season, as had been the case in the previous years, the market in Baglung district headquarters has seen a decrease in trade, according to local entrepreneurs.

Despite making numerous pledges and vows to the voters before the elections, they have failed to impress them with their achievements. Most of them blame lack of employees in their offices for the sluggish progress.
BAGLUNG, September 10: With the monsoon still showing no sign of retreat, number of patients in Dhaulagiri Zonal Hospital has been rising. Patients visit the hospital complaining of viral fever, diarrhea and dysentery.
BAGLUNG, September 3: For the residents of the western part of Baglung, the Budhathok Small Hydropower Project has been turning into a white elephant.
The damage in canals of the project causes losses worth millions every year.
BAGLUNG, August 30: The hasty and poor quality of work done in the name of development has given more troubles than benefits to the locals of Baglung district. A good example of this is the sorry state of many of the roads in Baglung Municipality.
BAGLUNG, Aug 21: Laxmi Gautam of Bhimapokhari-7 is a regular user of herbal medicines since the last two years. Herbal medicines have been helping her cure problems related to digestion and sleep. According to her, such medicines have solved her health problems which were not cured through allopathic treatment.
BAGLUNG, August 20: Cases of couples seeking divorce have increased in Baglung district in the last four years. In the fiscal year 2016-17, 138 cases among the total 489 cases filed at the District Court, Baglung were related to divorce cases.
BAGLUNG, August 19: The second edition of Teej Mahotsav has began on Thursday. Mahila Udhami Bikash Samiti that is under Baglung Udhyog Banijya Sangh has organized the three- day Mahotsav. One could taste local food items in the festival along with that one can buy the local handicraft displayed in the festival.
Continuous landslides prompted by torrential rainfall in Nishikhola Rural Municipality-1, Devisthan, has displaced the whole village of Huldi. Failure to control landslides has been troubling the locals in each year as they get displaced during the monsoon.
Folk singer Prajapati Parajuli expressed concern over the degrading quality of Nepali music and lyrics. Speaking at the 6th Sports and Teej Fest organized on Tuesday in Baglung, he shared that the Nepali music industry was in peril due to ignorance on the part of music professionals.
