My journey of helping

Published On: July 21, 2019 09:45 AM NPT By: Shikha Bahety

As a kid, if anyone asked me what I wanted to become, my answer varied every year, or should I say each quarter. As I grew, I did not have a concrete answer, but I knew I liked basketball as a sport and accounts as a subject. In no time, I started pursuing Chartered Accountancy. I completed the course with a lot of determination and perseverance while working at an audit firm. I realized this was not my calling and I was still trying to figure out what was. I transitioned my field from Accounting to Advertising, which was a huge step, and I never looked back and regretted any of my decisions.

Let's Write

The other day, we were having a discussion on how writing is a mental exercise, and how it should be carried out more frequently in each stage of our lives.

I miss you

We all feel your presence guiding us in each step, really strong. Even if your physical presence is missing, you are taking care of us and giving us that strength to continue with our life. The power to live each day and every moment even when there is a void that can never be fulfilled. You give us the capacity to understand that there can be no tomorrow, and at the same time giving hope for one with the belief that everything is temporary in this world.

The closure in a relationship

You have to realize that some people can stay in your heart but not in your life.  Some can stay in your life but not around you. This is when we are talking about the different relationships you have been in. Some connection with your loved ones, friends or a stranger you recently met lasts for ages and some withers in no time.

I volunteer-here’s my story

It’s been five years since we started with the events at The KTM Drive. It feels so nice how a small idea which was discussed over a coffee turned out to be an eco-friendly drive where we gave about 200 tree saplings for free.

Time to be responsible

There are different types of people around us. Some are hard to deal with while the rest; easy going. It depends on each individual’s nature, character, upbringing and thought process. A lot of it is the level of tolerance that a person possesses. This article goes out to the majority of people that we interact with and we ourselves can be the subject if we relate our experiences and style of living.

What goes around comes around

Do you believe in karma? Do you believe what you put across the world comes back to you? How about this statement: “ Your action towards others, affect the reaction of others on you in future.”

Are you an awesome flirt?

Published On: October 11, 2018 09:48 AM NPT By: Shikha Bahety

We were focused on a discussion on flirting during a get-together. The discussion lasted for a couple of hours.  As we got deeper into the subject of being a flirt while in a relationship, everyone shared their own opinion. Some said that it was an inborn talent which could do no harms if the intentions were right. While, others thought that it was wrong, especially if you were already in a relationship.

Learn to give

Last few events at The KTM Drive has made me realize that there is so much to give, and the more that I have gotten from the involvement in social activities, it feels that we have been doing much less. There are kids who are struggling to live another day. Many cannot even afford a one-time meal, and some have never seen their parents.

Salute to my icon

Our mornings are incomplete if he does not talk to us. His day starts pretty early and lasts long. He is always around us to take care of each one of us.  You can expect to learn a lot from him every moment. He is a believer, an entrepreneur, and a man with principles and rules. I am talking about my granddad -- the man I idolize. Someday I wish to follow his steps.

Kathmandu Roads

Published On: September 15, 2018 08:56 AM NPT By: Shikha Bahety

With the on-going road construction in Kathmandu, the traffic jam has also increased immensely. Also, the ever-increasing number of vehicles and haphazard parking on the road has caused the roads to go narrower. At present, it takes the double amount of time to commute from one destination to another. There are a lot of people who complain about the dreadlocks on the streets each day and spend a lot of time on their travel from home to their workplace, and vice-versa. The problem is not just the traffic but the dust and pollution that have increased respiratory problems as well.

Our perception toward life

Why do we think that we have forever? Why do we not comprehend that there is an end and life is more than what we are striving, and living for? Why is it difficult for us to accept that we are not immortals?

What type of traveler are you?

Most of us love traveling. We enjoy visiting new places and exploring different countries. Travelling, be it for holidays, or work, requires intricate planning. Finances need to be sorted, groups need to be decided, and in the case of foreign trips visa procedures need to be fulfilled.  The planning process never ends. Also, after completion of the trip, another form of planning takes place. Before our travel hangover is gone, we start preparing for our next trip.

Multitasking: the art of messing up

It takes me 15 minutes to walk to the gym. I see a lot people walking past me and everyone looks busy. Similarly, when I wait for my friend at the coffee shop, I observe lot of individuals conversing on their mobile phones which leads me to think if I had to start a new coffee place then it would be-- Coffee over cellphones.

No more secrets

KATHMANDU, June 10 : We all have secrets which we wished never emerged from the dark pits of the mind. Even sharing with the person closest to your heart is out of the question. Despite its significance or relevance onto someone else’s life’ we’d rather suppress it.

Dead end

While I visited the Pashupatinath temple, and crossed the Aryaghat, it gave me chills as it always does; thinking about how we are already cloaked in the mantle of mortal body. We all know it. A person does not exist always, and soon she or he is remembered in name only.

We were once having a discussion on birthdays and the topic led to discussion on how celebrating certain dates are so important. Some did not care about the specific dates, it was vital for other who planned a lot about it.

Falling in love, relating the songs that we are listening to that one person, might sound cheesy, but when we have fallen for the right person, it is the best feeling one can get. Relationships are beautiful, the connection, the bond, the love when it grows naturally is amazing.
