PANCHTHAR, August 3: The blacktopping of the national pride project -the Pushpalal (Mid-hill) Highway Chiwabhanjyang-Tharpu section - has become extremely slow. With only six months left before the end of the contract to complete the work with the contractor, the progress has not even reached 10 percent.
PANCHTHAR, Sept 19: Red Panda Network (RPN) has appointed a Nepali movie superstar Dayahyang Rai as the Red Panda Conservation Ambassador for the next one year. This is aimed at raising awareness against poaching and killing of this shy species found in rare numbers in the world.
PANCHTHAR, June 6: Ten red pandas in the jungles of Sandakpur area of Ilam district have been fitted with radio collars. The collaring attached to six female and four male red pandas is expected to supply the authorities even the minute information on the activities of these shy and rare creatures.

PANCHTHAR, March 17: Til Bikram Nembang of Phaktep in Phalgunanda Rural Municipality has not sold his harvested in August last year. He has been storing the processed big cardamom waiting for the price of the cash crop to go up. But there is no sign of the price going up even though new harvesting season is approaching nearer.

PANCHTHAR, Oct 27: To make it easier for trekkers to find their way through heavy snow, Kangchenjunga Conservation Committee has installed 200 ‘snow pole’ at the Kangchenjunga base camp. These poles have been placed in the range in very short distances.
PANCHTHAR, Sept 9: American fall armyworm has become a nuisance for farmers in the hilly areas of Province 1, of late. The pest which was earlier found in Okhaldhunga in the mid-hills has been spreading widely because of lack of mechanism for its control.
While the government is initiating plans and campaigns to promote ‘Visit Nepal 2020’, tourism entrepreneurs are claiming that Suke Pokhari could be one of the important tourist destinations. Situated in the eastern part of Nepal, Pachthar, it carries great historical and natural significance.
PANCHTHAR, Aug 10: About 55% work of the 148-kilometer-long road of Koshi Corridor has been completed. The road connects the eastern hills to the East-West Highway, with an aim to considerably shorten the distance to Kathmandu.
