Students of School of Engineering of Kathmandu University are participating in this worldwide competition of energy effectiveness promotion entitled 'Make the Future' organized by Royal Dutch Shell – a British-Dutch oil and gas company.
BANEPA, Sept 25: Even three years after the catastrophic earthquake of 2015, a majority of the extremely impoverished families of the 14 most-affected districts have not been able to rebuild their homes despite receiving housing grants provided by the government. To help such people out, the government has decided to provide a soft loan of Rs 300,000 to them.
BANEPA, Sept 9: Around 300 people have fallen ill after attending a pre-Teej party organized by a cooperative in Kavre on Friday. They are suspected to have become ill due to food poisoning after consuming contaminated food and are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals of Kavre and Kathmandu.
BANEPA, Aug 7: The government has finally started works of infrastructure building for Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Panchkhal valley of Kavre after a hiatus of seven years after the land acquisition. The zone is primarily for setting up industries to boost the country’s export, which has seen a continuous deterioration for the past two decades, owing to decline of the manufacturing sector.
BANEPA, July 17: The third municipal council meeting of Panauti Municipality has concluded with the decision to stop discrimination on wages for male and female agricultural and construction workers. Due to the continuing wage gap between the two genders, the fiscal program of the financial year 2018/19 came to this decision. Panauti is the first of the 13 local units in Kavre district to adopt such a policy.
BANEPA, June 30: Roshi and Temal rural municipalities of Kavre have begun registering the Bodhichitta plants of their region. This decision was made as local farmers had to risk their lives while plucking its seeds.
BANEPA, July 1: Last year, a day-old broiler chick used to cost between Rs 70 and Rs 90 per unit. Despite high price tag, hatcheries were struggling to meet the demand for chicks. However, farmers are not buying chicks this year even though price has come down by a half.
BANEPA, May 2: Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation is planning to build an alternative airport in Kavrepalanchok district in order to reduce traffic congestion at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
BANEPA, March 30: As many as 14 transport committees have waged a fierce war against Mayur Yatayat transportation service in Banepa, Dhulikhel. As this newly introduced transportation service posed threat to their strong syndicate along the Araniko Highway, the other transport entrepreneurs have united against it. Demanding cancelation of its Kathmandu-Banepa route permit, the entrepreneurs have threatened to bring transportation service to a halt in several areas of Kavre in case their demand is not fulfilled.
