DANG, Aug 14: In 2001, Til Bahadur Kami of east Rukkum bought a small plot of land from Deusari Kami for Rs 150,000. The land transaction was approved by the parallel government headed by the Maoist rebels as there was no trace of the central government then.
DANG, Aug 9: Kala KC of Bakhariya, Tulasipur lives in a small, old and dilapidated house, which was hit hard by the recent downpour. Looking at the house it seems that it could collapse any moment. But in lack of alternatives, her family still lives in it.
DANG, Aug 2: Lamahi Hospital, which is visited by dozens of patients from towns and rural villages of Dang, has stopped providing x-ray, ambulance and several other kinds of health services in lack of staffs. The hospital became unable to provide such services after nine of its staff members’ employment contract was not renewed by its development committee. The institution was already struggling with the shortage of doctors and nurses.

DANG, May 29: In the summer of 2004, an outbreak of diarrhea claimed three lives and affected nearly 400 people in Patetakura of Shantinagar Rural Municipality, Dang. The reason behind the outbreak was the distribution of contaminated water.
DANG, May 10: Lilbahadur Gharti, pastor of Prashamsha Church in Lamahi, encountered a group of Christians at his home a few days ago. All of them were foreigners. They tried to enter his house forcefully. But Gharti stopped them. He had to use force to shoo them away.

Locals report that forceful attempts to convert locals into Christianity, something which has been going on for a long time in the district, has intensified over the past decade. Of late, the targets of forceful conversions have started to speak up.
