KATHMANDU, Feb 5: A total of 273,703 of the 5,373,800 households in the country do not have a toilet, according to government data. Similarly, among the seven provinces, Province 2 has the highest number of people practising open defecation while every household in provinces 4 and 6 has at least one toilet.

Upto 150 dogbite cases daily at Teku Hospital

KATHMANDU, Feb 3: Between 400 to 500 persons rush to the state-owned Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital at Teku of Kathmandu daily after being bitten by dogs or other animals in the Kathmandu Valley. Ninety two percent of rabies cases belong to dog bites, according to health officials.

Stocks of up to 60 drug items nil at 5 regional stores

KATHMANDU, Feb 1: The stocks of up to 60 drug varieties and medical items at the government's  regional drugs storages are currently nil. However, the government is yet to make the drugs purchases for this year. Last fiscal year, the Department of Public Health Services (DoPHS) procured drugs worth only Rs 490 million out of the Rs 1.10 billion allocated for the purpose.

TU continues to burn plastic on its premises
