ILAM, July 12: Ethnicity-based fringe parties, which have their stronghold in the eastern hill districts, have lost their election deposits in their own bastion after failing to secure even 10% of the votes in the elections.
ILAM, July 9: Death toll in fresh violence in Darjeeling has reached four. Aasha Kumar, who had received police bullets on Saturday during the Gorkhaland Movement in Darjeeling of West Bengal in India, succumbed to injuries on Sunday morning.

Security personnel fatally shot the supporters of Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) during their rally demanding a separate state of "Gorkhaland" for the Nepali-speaking communities.
