GORKHA, Sept 22: A landslide in Kerauja area in northern Gorkha on Thursday morning killed five people including two Spanish tourists and severely injured as many. Nepalis who lost lives in the incident are Dorje Lama, 35, Chhiri Shrepa, 30 and Ranjana Basnet, 25. Lama and Sherpa were trekking guides while Basnet was a staff at Community Action Nepal (CAN), a tourism-related organization. Five people who were severely injured and four others who received minor injuries are being treated at Vayodha Hospital of Kathmandu.
GORKHA, Sept 13: Acute shortage of fertilizers during the peak season of farming has put farmers in Gorkha district in dilemma. The farmers are extremely worried over the lack of fertilizers after 23 agriculture cooperatives with license to distribute fertilizers to the farmers stopped supplying them. The cooperatives, which were selling fertilizers to local businessmen at higher rates, have stopped supplying fertilizers following a recent monitoring by the government.

GORKHA, July 1: Around 200 households of Kerauja VDC in Gorkha district have been displaced after their settlements were threatened by landslides triggered by heavy rains this week. The VDC, which lies in northern part of the district, is located at an altitude of 2,300 meters. It takes two days on foot to reach Kerauja from the district headquarters.
