LAHAN, Oct 31: People in Terai districts are gearing up for Chhath celebration. They are busy not only in cleaning and decorating ponds, lakes and rivers, but also making ‘Ghats’ along the water sources near their settlements.
LAHAN, Oct 24: With the festival of lights nearing, houses in rural areas of Madhes are becoming more colorful. To celebrate the festival, residents have started to paint their houses. Along with that, hustle-bustle in local markets have increased and shops have piled commodities specific to the festival like lamps, candles, sweets, among others.

LAHAN, Aug14: Shova Devi Chaudhari of Roghapur village of Mirchaiya Municipality–3 started having labor pain on Sunday morning. Though there was a hospital in Mirchiya itself, Chaudhari’s family wanted to take her to a better health facility. An ambulance was called, and she was taken to a private clinic of Sunita Shrestha, a nursing superintendent.
SIRAHA, July 23: A famous nursing home in Siraha has drawn attention following the detention of Dr Shambhu Kumar Yadav for performing a selective abortion at the facility. Mirchaiya Nursing Home, situated at the Mirchaiya marketplace of Siraha, is considered both expensive and well equipped. Dr Yadav’s case has reached the district court, and the police are actively investigating the incident.
SIRAHA, July 19: A team of leaders of the main opposition Nepali Congress including its chairperson Sher Bahadur Deuba visited the flood-hit areas in Siraha district to take stock of relief efforts on Friday.
