POKHARA, Jan 1: Temple Tree resort is gleaming with domestic tourists as full-fledged winter festivities kick on in Pokhara. Of its 68 rooms around 25 percent of the rooms are occupied by domestic tourists.
POKHARA, Dec 26: Pokhara’s old bus park located near Rastra Bank Chowk is being upgraded to attract tourists. The government will soon begin upgrading the ‘tourist bus park’, according to Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari. The Department of Tourism under the ministry took the initiative to upgrade the bus park that spreads across 18 ropanis of land. The land belongs to Pokhara Valley Town Development Committee and was gathering dust and garbage since long.
POKHARA, Dec 17: Every year, millions of tourists visit Pokhara and enjoy the beauty of the Fewa Lake. While some go for boating, most of them enjoy the beauty of the lake by walking on the foot trail around it. Despite its importance, the trail around the lake remains utterly neglected. It is filthy and dilapidated. Locals put the blame on the lack of action from concerned authorities as well as the visitors.
POKHARA, Dec 5: Around 70 percent of tourists visiting Nepal travel through different trekking trails in the country. Nepal is one of the major destinations for trekking. During the favorable season trekking trails of the country are jam-packed. September to November is considered as the best season for trekking. In the past few years, domestic tourists have also started to trek and the numbers of trekkers are on the rise.
POKHARA, Dec 4: After nearly two decades runway of the Jomsom Airport is being repaired. The runway was in dire need of repairs for a long time now. According to Pushparaj Neupane, an engineer with the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the repair project worth Rs 800 million has already kicked off. “The work of erecting fences around the airport is almost over. Blacktopping of the runway and construction of parking area will follow soon,” he said.
POKHARA, Nov 27: Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari has claimed that there has been a ploy to weaken Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC). The minister’s claim comes at a time when investigation is ongoing over procurement of two wide body A330-200 series Airbus aircrafts.
POKHARA, Nov 17: ‘Haphazard’ road extension around Fewa Lake has put the lake under risk as the mud released during the construction get deposited in the lake. The ‘haphazardly’ widened road at Pancheswar area has badly affected the texture of the lake, experts noted.

POKHARA, Oct 4: With the beginning of the tourist season in the country, Yeti Airlines, a private airline company, has started flights in the Kathmandu-Pokhara-Kathmandu sector. Yeti has deployed its new ATR 72-500 aircraft for the sector.
POKHARA, Sept 10: In 2011, 3 people died while boating in Begnas Lake. They had succumbed to lightning that befell on them while boating in the lake. The next year, five people died in the same lake after their boat capsized. This Saturday again a boat capsized in the lake killing eight people. The eight were heading to a Teej gathering.
