Lawmakers have drawn the government’s attention toward the issues related to embezzlement taking place at every state organs and heavy taxation being imposed on the citizens. Speaking at a parliament meeting in New Baneshwar on Monday, Nepali Congress lawmaker Pushpa Bhusal lashed out at the government for imposing exorbitant taxation saying that it has marred mostly the poor people. “Imposing up to 25 percent task on the salary of a government employee is not reasonable,” she said.

Rasuwa's RM prioritizes ambulance for all instead of private vehicle for chairperson

Citing that an ambulance was more important and much needed than a private car for its chairpersons, the Naukund rural municipality (RM) has decided to buy an ambulance instead. Without a hospital and an ambulance, the Naukund rural municipality is having difficulties to provide treatment as well as transport patients. In total, there are six health facilities, three health posts and community health posts.

Former ambassador Keshav Jha stabbed to death

Former ambassador to France, Keshav Jha, 80 was stabbed to death at his residence in Babarmahal. Jha had deep cut on his head and forehead. Police are investigating the case. They have kept the house's worker and two gardeners in custody for investigation.  

Landslides obstruct roads, forces commuters to walk days in Jajarkot 

Transportation along the Khalanga-Panchkatiya road of Jajarkot has been disrupted after landslides damaged it in various places. The people from Kushe and Bareko municipalities have suffered the most and are forced to walk for at least one or two days to reach their destinations. Travelers travelling to Dolpa and Rukum through this route are also affected. The local government as well as road department are ignorant to the hassles passengers have to go through.  

Afghan forces free 149 hostages taken by Taliban in ambush

Afghan forces launched a lightning operation in northern Kunduz province on Monday, rescuing 149 people, including women and children, abducted by the Taliban just hours earlier, officials said. By mid-afternoon, fighting was still underway in the area to free 21 remaining hostages. The operation was a boost for Afghan forces, which have struggled to contain a resurgent Taliban on battlefields across the country.

Nepali cricket team off to Sri Lanka in course of participation in Asia Cup Qualifier

Nepali cricket team has left for Sri Lanka to play the 2018 Asia Cup Qualifier. The games are scheduled from August 29 to September 6. During its stay in Sri Lanka, the Nepali squad will play practice matches with three local clubs there before departing for Malaysia. Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara bade farewell to the team amidst a progrmme here today before the team flew to Sri Lanka.
