Flood sweeps bridge at Barhabise

Flood and landslide triggered by the incessant rainfall have swept away a concrete bridge over a local Sandi stream at Barhabise bazaar last night. It has resulted in disruption of vehicular movement, creating hassles for the people especially from Barhabise municipality and Bhotekoshi rural municipality, said Police Inspector at Area Police Office, Barhabise, Yadav Thapa. 

PM Oli stresses on right to information

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stressed the need to improve access to information on the occasion of 11th National Information Day.  However, he urged citizens to refrain from collecting personal information of others.  The National Information Day is marked every year from Bhadra 3, 2065, the year when the Right to Information Act came into place. He also added all agencies to disseminate information to strengthen democracy and urged all to exercise their rights.

Flood damages bridge, afflicting people including Gosaikunda pilgrims

The Nuwakot has lost its transport connection with Rasuwa after a flood damaged a bridge at Trishuli- Betrawati section along the Pasang Lhamu Highway. The bridge over the local Gerkhu stream last night was damaged by the flood on the Rasuwa side. The highway is the sole motorable road connecting Rasuwa with the central capital Kathmandu and its disruption in Nuwakot has left pilgrims heading towards the Gosaikunda Fair stranded. 

Police present Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma at district court

The Kavre's police has presented Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma of Nepal Communist Party (Biplav) at the District Court. According to the police, Bishwakarma is the main accused in an organized crime to torch a crusher industry, Blu Sign of Katunjebesi of Namobudhha municipality-6 on Baishak 1, 2075.

Sun up early for China with 1st Asian Games gold medal

Sun Peiyuan has won the first gold medal awarded at the 18th Asian Games, winning wushu's changquan discipline ahead of local hope Edgar Marvelo. The changquan competition started at 9 a.m. local time Sunday and was all over within an hour, with Sun scoring 9.75 to claim a gold medal in the same city where he won the world title in 2015.

140 Saudi-led forces killed in Yemen in 48 hours

According to Yemeni sources, at least 140 forces affiliated with Saudi-led coalition were killed in a conflict with Yemeni army and popular committees during the past 48 hours. In a conflict between Saudi-led forces and Yemeni army, in Hudaydah Province at least 140 were killed and 236 more were injured, Yemeni TV Channel ‘Al-Masirah’ reported.
