Mujaffarpur-Dhalkebar transmission line comes into full operation

The Dhalkebar charge substation of Mujaffarpur- Dhalkebar transmission line of Dhanusha has come into operation since yesterday night. The 220 and 132 KV Dhalkebar substation is the largest transmission line of the country. It came into operation since 11 PM yesterday.

Foreign Minister extends condolence to former Indian PM, Vajpayee

Representing the Government and people of Nepal, foreign minister, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali held a brief courtesy meeting with Mnister of External Affairs of India, Sushma Swaraj and extended condolence on the demise of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former prime minister of India. The duo also discussed issues relating to Nepal-India relations and exchanged views about the upcoming fourth Summit of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral, Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on August 30-31. 

Another rhino found dead; natural death of wildlife on rising

An endangered one-horned rhino was found dead in a pool of water nearby a lake in the western belt of Chitwan National Park. A patrol team mobilized from the CNP on Thursday found the old-aged rhino dead and the cause behind the death was presumed to be aging according to a veterinary doctor involved in the post-mortem. 

India monsoon floods kill 164 in Kerala

The worst floods in a century in the Indian state of Kerala have killed 164 people and forced more than 200,000 into relief camps, officials said and more misery is expected as heavy rain pushed water levels higher. The floods began nine days ago and Vijayan said 164 people had been killed - some in landslides - with about 223,000 people forced into 1,568 relief camps.

Italy demands 500m euros from broken bridge owner

Serious questions were being raised Friday in Italy over how one of Genoa’s main motorways gave away without warning on Tuesday, causing the death of 39 people. The Genoa Public Prosecutor's Office blamed "human error" for the collapse and opened an investigation into the possible negligent homicide. The cause of the structural failure is not yet known. Initial accounts of heavy rain or a lightening being responsible for the collapse have now largely been dismissed.

La Liga plans to stage a match involving either Barcelona or Real Madrid in the United States

Spain's La Liga plans to stage a match in the United States, its first venture outside Europe, as part of a North American expansion drive. The teams and the venue for the match were not disclosed in the statement from the league which has formed a joint-venture, LaLiga North America, to boost its profile in the United States and Canada.
