Janai is the triple cord made of cotton. It is a symbol of body, speech, and mind. A doro (strand) is tied wrist on the occasion of Janai Purnima. People perceive that God will protect them if they use doro.
Veteran litterateur and winner of Madan Puraskar Madan Mani Dixit was admitted to Sumeru Hospital in Lalitpur last week due to pneumonia attack. He was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday. He was rushed to Himal Hospital in Putalisadak after he fainted at own residence. Senior litterateur Madan Mani Dixit was cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat in the capital on Thursday afternoon.
