SARLAHI, July 6: Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Madhesh Province Chair Ashok Kumar Yadav has denied reports that he is on the run after verbally threatening Sarlahi District Police Chief SP Yogendra Kumar Khadka.
In a video statement released on Sunday, Yadav claimed he is not absconding but is at a hospital caring for his critically injured son. “I am not on the run. Let it be clear—I do not fear. Police came to my house like thugs around midnight, beat my son severely, and left him on the brink of death. He has a torn neck vein. I’m at the hospital for his treatment,” Yadav said.

He alleged that police raided his home late at night and assaulted his son. The incident follows a viral phone call in which Yadav is heard verbally abusing SP Khadka, after which the court issued an arrest warrant against him on charges of obstruction of public service and public disturbance.
Yadav said he has consistently raised his voice against corruption and misgovernance in Madhes, and this confrontation is part of that activism. “If the state considers me a criminal for this and files cases, I am ready to face a hundred of them. Even if I’m given the death penalty, I will continue to fight for the rights of the Madhesi people,” he declared.
An arrest warrant was issued against Yadav on Asar 20 (July 4) following the leaked audio scandal.
