BUTWAL, June 13: The policies and programs of Lumbini Province for the new fiscal year were endorsed by a meeting of the provincial assembly on Sunday.
Province Chief Dharma Nath Yadav had presented the government's policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year 2021/22 on June 8.
This has paved the way for the CPN-UML-led province government to table the annual budget for FY 2021/22. The opposition parties had earlier asked the provincial government to prove the support of the majority of members in the assembly before introducing the annual budget.

The opposition parties, however, claimed that they did not object to the policies and programs fearing that the government may introduce the budget through an ordinance if it failed to get endorsed the policies and programs. Earlier, the opposition alliance was preparing to exert pressure on Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel by voting against the policies and programs.
CM Pokharel claims he has 45 lawmakers by his side
Chief Minister Pokharel said that he commands the support of 45 members of the 83-member Lumbini Province Assembly.
While responding to the questions raised over the policies and programs for the next fiscal year, CM Pokharel questioned the role of Speaker Purna Bahadur Gharti and the Province Assembly Secretariat.
“The speaker should safeguard the constitution and the provincial assembly should also be clear about the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP),” he said.
