FNCCI also demands its representation in market monitoring teams

KATHMANDU, Oct 13: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has urged all entrepreneurs and businesspeople across the country to comply with the business code of conduct while carrying out their businesses.

Releasing a statement on Tuesday, FNCCI — an umbrella organization of businesses and industries in Nepal — also made it clear that nobody is free to play with people’s health and violate the laws and rules of the country.

The statement of the FNCCI comes in the wake of growing cases of anomalies in the market including selling expired and unadulterated products during the pandemic.

“Never and nowhere should there be any carelessness when it comes to something that is directly linked with the health of the people. Nobody has any exemption to go against the laws and rules and play with the health of the people. If one does , one should be ready for legal action. So, the FNCCI urges all businesspeople and entrepreneurs to fully comply with the business code of conduct,” reads the statement.

Meanwhile, the FNCCI has also demanded a mechanism whereby its district or municipality chamber representatives are also included and involved in market monitoring.

It has also called for market monitoring throughout the year rather than intensifying it during the festive seasons.
