Artists Manandhar and Adhikari honored with Dadasaheb Phalke Film Award in India

KATHMANDU, May 24: Nepali film artist Karishma Manandhar and artist and film director Aakash Adhikari have been feted with the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Award 2023.

KATHMANDU, May 24: Nepali film artist Karishma Manandhar and artist and film director Aakash Adhikari have been feted with the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Award 2023.


The Nepali artists duo was honored with the prestigious award for their outstanding contribution to the Nepali cinema. In a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India on May 21, Manandhar was awarded the best actress while Adhikari was the best director.

It was the 69th  edition of the Award this year.


Taking to the social networking site, Manandhar expressed her gratitude and wrote, "Art is a universal language which goes beyond the boundaries, enriching human's lives."


Similarly, Adhikari expressed that he considers Mumbai as his second heaven. "I have only heard of heaven. Have not seen it yet. My country Nepal is akin to heaven. Thereafter comes Mumbai which is another heaven for me. It is where I got an opportunity to learn and work," he remarked on a social networking site.


The esteemed annual award named after Dadasaheb Phalke, India's producer, director and screen-writer, is given recognizing the outstanding contribution to cinema.
