KATHMANDU: Art exhibition, created during Community Art workshop ‘Rebuilding Recaptured’ held at Sindhupalchowk, was organized on Saturday at NexUs Culture Nepal, Bakhundole. In the exhibition, the works done by artists who were the residents for one month, were exhibited.

Local as well as international artists participated in one month residency program. There were total 18 artists where the workshop took place at Kathmandu for 20 days and at Sindhupalchowk for 10 days. According to the press statement there were artists from Finland, Bangladesh and India for the workshop.

It added that the residency program organized by NexUs Culture Nepal became a chance for the artists to interact with the locals of Shipapokhare, Sindhupalchowk. And it was similar to a research for the artists from abroad as they got to learn the locals’ experience on earthquake.

At Shipapokhare, the artist not only interacted with the locals but also created artworks with them. And the artists have depicted the geographical condition, economical condition and how Shipapokhare should look like in future, in their artworks. The artworks contained video installation, sound installation among others.

Quoting artist Ashmina Ranjit who is also the coordinator of the workshop stated, “The workshop at Shipapokhare was organized with an aim to aware the locals of Shipapokhare to rebuild the place through creative campaign.”
