Art for community children

The ‘Group Drawing & Paintings Exhibition' of children is underway since Saturday at the premises of the Newa Chen Art Gallery, Swotha, Patan.  The four-day- long exhibition is organized by Community Children Art School (CCAS).

According  to  artist Sarita  Dongol, who is also the  founder of  CCAS, the objective of the  CCAS  is to motivate  the community  children through  the help of artworks by  giving  them  art  education. She said, “We are spreading awareness of art and art education to local community children since 2007. We aim at utilizing their leisure time by getting them involved in the art class. Besides that, CCAS also provides handwriting class, yoga, meditation, and public speaking classes.”

The exhibition features more than 80 drawings and paintings using water-color medium, pencil shadow sketch, paper cuttings, and 3D animations among others. The paintings and drawing are created by 38 children from age group 3-15, who had participated in a 15-day-long art class at CCAS.

Three-year-old Riaan Raghuvanshi, the youngest among the artists, has painted her own face with color pencils. Her face appears at the center of the paper and few ducks cover the backdrop of the painting. Artist and art critic Madan Chitrakar along with senior sculptor Gopal Kalapremi inaugurated the exhibition.
