Army extends ITF gold tally to 14

DAMAK, Dec 27: Tribhuvan Army Club has extended its gold tally to 14 in the ITF taekwondo event at the Seventh National Games adding six more to its tally on Monday. On the second day of event held in Damak, Jhapa, Eastern Region also bagged three golds while another departmental team Armed Police Force Club won two. 

Similarly, other two regional teams - Central and Western -- grabbed one gold each. 

In the women’s 45-50 kg sparring event, Army’s Rubika Khadka won gold while Puja Khulal Magar of Central Region bagged silver and the bronze went to Mid-Western Region’s Sushila Gurung and Supaki Shahi. Similarly, in the 51-55 kg event, Army’s Rina Dhimal won gold while Sharmila Mahat of Western Region grabbed silver and APF’s Sanchita Lama and Central Region’s Sweta Rai bagged bronze respectively. 

Tulasa Rajthala of Army snatched gold in 56-60 kg category and Mid-Western Region’s Menuka Budha Magar won silver in the same event while bronze went to Western Region’s Sima Khasu and Far-Western Region’s Sabita Urau. 

Likewise in the 61-65 kg event, Sirjana Rai of Army grabbed gold while Western Region’s Umisha Gharti won silver and Uma Ghale of Central region and Kiran Yadav of Mid-Western Region took bronze. 

In the above 65 kg category, gold went to Basanti Budha Magar of Army while Eastern Region’s Anamika Rai grabbed silver and Kamana Pun from Western Region and Far-Western Region’s Sujata Sijapati bagged bronze respectively. 

Similarly in the men’s 45-50 kg sparring event, Army’s Purna Bahadur Magar won gold while Dipak Gautam of Western Region bagged silver and the bronze went to Eastern Region’s Prabhat Karki and Central Region’s Sunil Mahato respectively. 

APF’s Yogendra Dhimal gabbed gold in 51-55 kg category while Bikal Poudel of Western Region won silver and Central Region’s Tara Tamang and Mid-Western Region’s Himal Lama bagged bronze respectively. 

In the 55-60 kg event, Western Region’s Dinesh Budha Magar won gold and Shankar Yadav of Mid-Western Region bagged silver while bronze went to Army man Sabindra Tamang and Eastern Region’s Basanta Budhathoki. 

Likewise, Eastern Region’s Dilan Rai snatched gold in the 61-65 kg event and Gedh Bahadur Basnet of Army won silver while Central Region’s Nimesh Thapa and Western Region’s Rajan Rasaili bagged bronze respectively.
