KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) has announced to organize three different tournaments later this year in the capital city Kathmandu.
APF said it will host Ninth Sahabir Memorial Open Lawn Tennis Tournament, 13th Nationwide Krishna Mohan Memorial Open Badminton Tournament and IGP 4th National Open Women’s Volleyball Tournament.
The APF at a press meet in Kathmandu on Monday, announced that lawn tennis will be held from January 26 to 31 in APF’s court at Halchowk alongside lawn tennis court at Satdobato. Other two tournaments will be played in APF’s premises Halchowk from January 29 to February 2.
Lawn tennis will feature altogether 13 events, according to the organizer. Men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, master’s singles and doubles, veteran’s 35 singles and doubles are the events included in the tournament.
Similarly, veteran’s 45 singles and doubles, veteran’s 55 singles and doubles and veteran’s 65 singles are the other events of the lawn tennis tournament. Organizer has fixed Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000 as the registration fees for participating in the singles and doubles events respectively.

The registration will close on January 23.
The winners in the men’s and women’s singles events will bag a purse of Rs 60,000 while the runner-ups and third positioned players will win Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.
Likewise the winners of the men’s and women’s doubles will be awarded with Rs 40,000 and the runner-ups and players finishing in the third position will win Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 each respectively.
Meanwhile, badminton tournament will include 10 events -- men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, U-17 boy’s and girl’s, mixed doubles, veterans over 45 and 55 singles, masters over 35 singles.
Organizer has fixed Rs 500 and Rs 1000 as the registration fees for registration in the singles and doubles events respectively. The deadline for registration has been set until January 24.
The champions in the men’s and women’s singles events will win Rs 60,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively while the runner-ups in those events will be given Rs 30,000 and Rs 25000 respectively.
Similarly the winner of the men’s and women’s doubles will be awarded with Rs 60,000 and Rs 40,000 while the runner-ups of those events will bagged Rs 30,000 and Rs 25,000.
Women’s volleyball will be played in league cum knockout format according to organizer. The deadline for registration has been set until January 27.
None of the participating teams will be allowed to field foreign players in the tournament to be held under technical support of Nepal Volleyball Association.
The winner of the tournament will win purse of Rs 250,000 while the runner-up will be given Rs 125,000. The third placed team will be rewarded with Rs 50,000.
The best player in each position -- spike, service, defense, block, setting -- will be awarded with Rs 5000 each and equal amount has been allocated for the the best coach.
However, the prize for the best player of the tournament is yet to be disclosed.
