APF team rescues nine mules stuck in suspension bridge, two dead

KATHMANDU, June 9: Among the 14 mules that got stuck when one of the iron rods of the suspension bridge over Karnali river connecting Achham and Dailekh districts was broken, nine have been successfully rescued by the Armed Police Force (APF). Unfortunately, two mules died during the rescue operation.

KATHMANDU, June 9: Among the 14 mules that got stuck when one of the iron rods of the suspension bridge over Karnali river connecting Achham and Dailekh districts was broken, nine have been successfully rescued by the Armed Police Force (APF). Unfortunately, two mules died during the rescue operation.


Acting Chief District Officer Ganesh Prasad Koirala of the District Administration Office, Dailekh, provided details of the incident. He said that efforts are still underway to rescue the remaining mules, which are stuck.

As rescue from the bridge was not possible, the wire was cut and the mules were dropped into Karnali river. Rescuers then retrieved the mules from the river using a boat.
