KATHMANDNU, Jan 31: With the election of Free Students Union (FSU) just around the corner, students affiliated to the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), a sister wing of the CPN-UML, have clashed with those affiliated to the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary), a student wing of the CPN (Maoist Center).


In the clash that occurred at Thamel-based Swaraswati Campus on Tuesday ANNFSU leader Shankar Gautam was injured. Gautam sustained a deep cut in his eye and received four stitches.

The students clashed with each other while the ANNFSU students were preparing to put up a national flag at the college.


 Police are searching for those involved in the clash, said Police Inspector Umesh Lamsal of Sohrakhutte Police Sector told Republica Online.


 The Free Students Union election will be held on February 2.
