BUTWAL, May 7: An elected representative of local government in Butwal has died of COVID-19 as he was forced to wait for hours to get admission in hospital.
According to his family members, the 44-year-old people’s representative from Rupandehi died in an ambulance while waiting for admission at the hospital. His family members were forced to keep him in an ambulance with oxygen support as they could not find any beds in the hospital for treatment.

His family members said the deceased had been kept in home isolation and was given oxygen after they could not find any beds in Butwal and Bhairawa for hospitalization. The family had been looking for a hospital in Butwal and Bhairawa after the deceased experienced breathing difficulties since Thursday.
Ward Chairman of Butwal Municipality-7 Kamal Pratap Thapa said the patient died after he failed to get proper treatment.
As many as four people have succumbed to the virus in Rupandehi in the past 24 hours.
According to Dr Bishnu Gautam, information officer of Provincial Hospital, two other patients in Lumbini Provincial hospital, and one in Corona Special Hospital have also been reported dead on Friday. Those dying of the COVID-19 in the past 24 hours include a 65-year-old male from Taamnagar of Butwal, a 65-year-old female, and a 43-year-old male from Tilottama Municipality-1.
