KATHMANDU, March 29: Amid rising coronavirus cases, the government has decided to extend nationwide lockdown by a week, until April 7.
A cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence, Baluwatar, decided to this effect on Sunday evening, according to government spokesperson Yuba Raj Khatiwada.
Earlier today, a high-level committee established to prevent and contain the COVID-19 had suggested the Council of Ministers to extend the nationwide lockdown by another week in view of the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the country.
The COVID-19 confirmed cases jumped to five on Saturday after a 19-year-old girl returned from Belgium tested positive for coronavirus while undergoing treatment at Dhaulagiri hospital in Baglung.
