Ambassador Acharya meets Ban Ki-Moon

KATHMANDU, Nov 9: Gyan Chandra Acharya, Ambassador/Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations met with Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations at latter´s office on Tuesday.



Ambassador Acharya apprised the Secretary-General of the ongoing preparatory process of the Fourth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to be held in Turkey next year, stated the press release issued by Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations in New York.[break]



Ambassador also made a request for his strong leadership and support in favour of LDCs in the G-20 meeting next week as well as for the success of the UN Conference on LDCs in 2011.



The Secretary-General reaffirmed his continuing political support to LDCs and gave him the assurances of necessary technical and logistical support by the UN Office responsible for the Conference, reads the release.



Permanent Representative of Turkey to the UN as well as Permanent Representatives of LDC Coordination Bureau also took part in the meeting.
