SURKHET, March 11: Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the alliance has become stronger after the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) grant agreement was ratified through parliament.

Chairman Dahal also said that the coalition parties would move ahead in the local level election on May 13 by forging an alliance with ruling parties.

Talking to reporters in Birendranagar on Friday, Dahal said, "There was a fear that the MCC would break the alliance and bring instability to the country again. It has rather strengthened the alliance and the coordination will be continued even in the local polls."

He said that an unofficial decision regarding maintaining the alliance until the election has been made.

Dahal also said that by ratifying the MCC, the coalition parties have saved the country from serious disasters. "Because of one project, the country's national politics and Nepali society was in a state of disintegration," he said. “We resolved the issue of MCC through interpretative declarations.”

He said the interpretative declaration was based on the MCC's answers to some questions raised by the government. "The 12-point declaration was passed by parliament at once as part of the agreement," he said.

He said that there was no dispute within the Maoist Center over the MCC. "The central committee meeting has decided to end the differences over the MCC and move ahead in a united manner in the election campaign," Dahal said. "We have come to Karnali to train party cadres during the same campaign."

Dahal said that the electoral coordination and party unity with the then CPN-UML was not an alliance. "The electoral coordination with the UML and the party unity was an initiative aimed at uniting the communist movement and giving stability to the politics of the country," he said.

He said that the Maoist center was still the deciding force in the direction of the country's politics. "The Maoist party and its leadership are working to give momentum and stability to the country," he said.
