Thanks to technology these are exciting times with a lot of advancements to make our lives easier happening on a daily basis. Kathmandu is growing digitally making our lives better and easier each day. After the success of many online food and clothing stores, it’s now time for the new players, that are slowly gaining popularity, to win the trust of customers: The home service providers.

These companies have now made maintenance and repair of almost anything easy by providing high quality service at your doorstep in just a click. We at The Week connected with the three best handyman services available online in Kathmandu to let you judge which service is best suited for you. With these service providers just a click away, you never have to worry about any work that needs to be done around the house every again.

Bhetayo.com
Bhetayo perhaps has the largest database of service providers in Nepal. This website works on two fronts: Service provider and service seeker. If you are skilled, you can sign up as a service provider and this can be your part time job. Otherwise, you may also be a service seeker and make use of their services by finding the best service provider in a matter of seconds.

Spotting a huge opportunity in the highly unorganized service market of Nepal, the Bhetayo team thought of building a platform where hiring a service provider would be both easy and reliable. Now, Bhetayo.com provides a huge range of services including carpet cleaning, interior designing, carpentry etc. You can contact a repair technician, graphic designer, photographer, dog trainer, pest control, yoga trainer, and fitness instructor too. Basically, everything that you need help with is available on this website.

So how does it work? According to Vishal Surana, the IT head of Bhetayo, the service providers are only listed on the website after checking their quality and efficiency. The service seekers can then choose from a huge range of service providers after signing up at Bhetayo.com. The consumers can directly contact the providers, inquire about their services, and select them on the basis of previous ratings.

Homeservicenepal.com
Home Service Nepal claims that they can repair almost anything. According to Damodar Shrestha, founder of Home Service Nepal, his father has been in the repairing business for a long time. “I just gave a digital and more innovative platform to home service,” says Shrestha.

Before Home Service Nepal, Shrestha had his own company named 4G Electronics where he would give technical trainings to people. “One day I thought of training around 30 unskilled men to help them gain employment. After the training I realized that it was difficult for them to get a job in the market,” says Shrestha. That is why he established a digital platform for them and named it Home Service Nepal. It was easier for him to provide good service at every home because his father already knew the pros and cons of this business.

Today the company has services such as house wiring, electrical repair, socket repair, plumbing, fixing home appliances, carpentry, and wall painting. The best and the most unique part about their service is that each service comes at a basic price of Rs 300. Unlike most services in Kathmandu, they do not just increase the price of their service for small reasons.

The only drawback of this service may be that you might not be able to get the technician you require on the same day you put in a request. But Shrestha says that they company is trying it’s best to make sure you get the help you need as quickly as possible.

Herchar.com
Another competitor in this market is Herchar that literally translates to ‘taking care’. The entire Herchar team came together with the intention of solving problems that those living in Kathmandu face on a regular basis. “Calling someone for repairing and fixing things at home takes a lot of time and effort in Kathmandu. Especially if you are working, not getting time to repair your electronic devices at home is not uncommon,” says Diwas Sapkota, manager of Herchar, stating one of the reasons why they thought of establishing this service oriented company.

The team also realized that a lot of the working population of Nepal was going abroad to perform similar tasks. Hence, they wanted to create a platform where the youth would generate enough money and get a respectable job here in Nepal itself. “We thought, in this age, digital technology would be perfect to solve many problems for both consumers and our skilled population,” says Sapkota adding that all their employees are in-house and the feedback of every customer is taken seriously. Also, each employee is a CTEVT student so they are skilled and trained professionally.

Herchar provides plumbers, carpenters, electricians, and repair agents through their digital platform. They are determined in providing equality service and take their customer’s time preference very seriously. Their website is very convenient for people who have a busy schedule and don’t have the time to go through elaborate processes just to get a service they urgently require. According to Sapkota, Herchar will release their mobile application this month to make home service even more convenient.
