All players of Nepal’s National Football Team test negative for COVID-19

KATHMANDU, Aug 13: All the players of Nepal’s National Football Team have tested negative for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).


The players had undergone Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests before starting indoor training sessions for the Qatar World Cup, 2022 and the Asian Cup 2023.

The throat swab samples of 34 team members were tested for COVID-19 at Patan Hospital and their results were negative, according to All Nepal Football Association (ANFA). The coaches, Officials and employees of the hostels where they are living have also tested negative.


Meanwhile, the indoor training session of the Nepali National Football Team has been postponed following the recent decision of the Asian Football Association to postpone the Asian Cup scheduled for 2023. The players, who arrived in Kathmandu Valley from different parts of the country for the indoor training, have already returned to their respective hometown.
