KATHMANDU, Dec 21: An all party meeting called by the Nepali Congress (NC) is underway at the headquarters of the party in Sanepa, Lalitpur.

The meeting attended by the leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), NC and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) is expected to forge strategies to tackle the new development following the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) by President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the recommendation of  Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The move by PM Oli has been tagged unconstitutional and undemocratic by people of various walks of life ranging from politicians to legal eagles.

PM Oli, however, defended his move citing he was forced to take the decision to dissolve parliament after conspiracies were made against his government and it was not allowed to function properly. In a special address to the nation, Prime Minister Oli said that he was forced to dissolve parliament and announce midterm elections after he learnt about a plan to file a vote of no-confidence against him.
